Samhain and Ancestral Healing
Next week, Oct 31-Nov 1, is Samhain, the Celtic holiday that marks the division between the lighter half of the year (summer) from the darker half (winter). It also signifies the bridge between the land of the living and the dead. It's a time to honor our ancestors and support their crossing over from this realm to the next.
Yogi Bhajan, who brought Kundalini Yoga to the west, taught that when we cleanse our subconscious mind of patterns that no longer serve us, we heal 7 generations behind us and 7 generations ahead of us. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, and we cannot escape the karma and subconscious energy that is stored in our DNA and physical bodies.
I believe clearing these old patterns is one of our primary missions on earth, since it's through this process of inner composting that makes space for new consciousness to dance forth in the forward flow of evolution. Each time we heal a part of ourselves, we are contributing to the healing of the collective. With each breath of surrender, we make space for new life to burst forth.
Conscious inner composting and engaging the new is one of the primary reasons to practice Kundalini Yoga. Through breath, movement, and mantra, we grow awareness of our inner potential and clear the way for this beauty to shine through us.
On Wednesday, in honor of Samhain, we will be clearing subconscious patterns with a focus on healing our ancestral line. Join us for Kundalini Yoga, 6:30-8am at Sukha Yoga, Novato.
